LOCATION: RESEARCH INTO POSSIBLE LOCATIONS

Our concept follows the ‘mass hunting game’ located in a secluded woodland area which we took into

account when researching into possible locations to shoot.

A photo taken from my Mood Board

We firstly looked into shooting at nearby

woodland located in Peaslake which

would support our desired secluded

woodland location.

It is roughly a 5

minute drive from school which is

extremely beneficial In keeping with our

production timings which is a

fundamental part of pre production

planning.

This location offers a variety

of benefits from its ideal proxemics to

the school, to the secluded nature of the

woods which we want for our opening. However, as this location is public, it offers

possibilities of disruptions from people outside of the production group and that fact

that we do not know the area very well and would therefore need to make markups to

survey the shots and block our actors movements etc.

(this photo is extremely similar to the ones portrayed in our mood boards)

Another possibility for location wise is using a nearby paintballing facility: Delta Force.

The paintballing site is located roughly 38 minutes away from school, which instantly means a loss of around an hour of shooting time.

The facility has several different locations within it which would help reinforce the ‘idea’ of the game appearing on a much large scale which is exactly what we want to highlight through the filming and locational elements of the opening.

The possibility of shooting at Delta Force does however come with several limitations; the distance from the facility to school takes up over 1 hour there and back of our shooting time which is longer when striking kit is taking into account.

We also need to arrange permission to shoot there which may be difficult as it is a working paintballing facility. If the weather is difficult to shoot in, for example raining, then there is no cover for the equipment etc.

There is also no source of electricity, which in itself doesn’t pose as a bog issue as our opening consists of using natural lighting only. The shooting season is in February, early march and will therefore be cold and without an indoor facility for cast and crew, it could be a possible health risk.

Our final possible location is Furzen Farm, which too consists of various woodland areas as well as open fields which is ideal for our desired concept;

it is located approximately 12 minutes away from school which limits travel time dramatically from that of Delta Force. This location is perfect as there are no possibilities of disruption from the public as it is private land and a production member has access to it.
