In order to visualise my own desired 'tone' of the opening, I have assembled a mood board together which will enable myself and my production group to collectively contribute and decide upon the overall image of the opening as each one of us have made one.
This is the process:
Here you can see me assembling the individual photos together
Here is my final Mood Board:
COSTUME CHOICES:Costume is an extremely important topic within our opening as it distinguishes characters and their positions of power.
The first costume choice for the 'hunted' are boiler suits of some kind, specifically with a number on the back which identifies them. I really like this idea as it ties in with the 'sporting' atmosphere and being 'dressed suitable' for the occasion sets a sinister tone.
My second choice of costume for the victims are to dress them in cocktail dresses, which instantly give the impression that they were previously in 'civilisation' attending a dinner party. I also really like this idea as it gives the impression of the ordeal these people have been through. A way in which we could visually present this would be through ripping and 'roughing' up the costumes. However, this specific idea would be logistically challenging as we are filming in winter and therefore the weather conditions are harsh and a potential health risk would be present.
The costume choices for the 'hunters' involve a full set of tweed suits, matching in with the whole English country shooting aesthetic which I feel goes nicely with the 'sport' element of this hunt whilst challenging a class element to it.
I have also inserted images of female characters by which I feel present the same strength our female protagonist should have and the 'vibe' they should carry after they have killed the hunter and are walking away as the titles and sound track plays. Slight moments of hysteria would also be present during the ending sequence which is demonstrated through this picture to the right:
My main inspiration for the female leads are: - Buffy the vampire slayer
- Killing eve, villainelle
-ready or not, grace
Moving on to the location of our opening, collectively myself and my production group have decided upon filming this sequence in a woods, giving of the realism of this 'hunt' and complying with the logistics of filming rights etc:
One aspect of our opening scene which myself and my group have been adamant on from the beginning is the intended shock factor right at the beginning of the sequence. Collectively, we decided upon an extremely gorey opening; here are some ideas for how the very opening would look from a gore and violence aspect
