Today, me and my production group got together and brainstormed our main outline for our final concept idea. We collectively decided to merge two previous concept ideas from myself and Will:
We knew as a group that we wanted to stick to the concept of a female, revenge ‘power win’ which would juxtapose the initial ‘victim’ complex of the character. However, we didn’t just want to stick with my initial narrative of an opening of a girl just being followed by a ‘creepy’ man, instead we want to open the scene with action and excitement to instantly engage the audience and introduce the genre as a thriller.
We began discussing locations also, as Will mentioned filming this is a secluded location of perhaps a woods. This suggestion got us thinking about why this girl would be in a woods in the first place, which lead us to the idea of a ‘hunting’ environment whereby the female character is being hunted as sport.
This is our new detailed opening concept:
The scene will begin with a character (gender not specific) being violently killed with blood being splattered everywhere after being shot by two men who are clearly on a ‘shooting weekend’ but instead of animals, they are hunting down humans. There is a small conversation between the two men, who are clearly of aristocratic heritage from their accent and costume choices, dressed head to toe in tweed, as they let the audience know there is one last ‘thing’ to hunt down through their dialogue.
There are a few moments with the two men shouting to her as they get nearer whilst showing the women's fear as she hysterically runs. The camera focuses on the two men appearing puzzled as she is out of sight after splitting up, next thing we see is the character appearing behind the men and first violently stabbing one man with a pointed stick or knocking him out with a rock and then crushing his head with it. Then the women take the man's gun to shoot his friend who is still looking for her. It is in this moment, after the two men have been killed, that the ambient sound of one of the man's headphones playing a high energy song, switches to the non-diegetic soundtrack as we see the women walking away smiling, still covered in blood with large, coloured titles appearing around her.
